Territory & Tourism
The territory of Villa Rosa expands in a tongue of land that goes from the hill to the sea, allowing in a few minutes to move easily from one biome to another while remaining within the same territory. Given its position on the border with the Marche, many describe it as the 'first beach of Abruzzo', the calling card of the region itself that tells its uses, colors and landscapes.
Villa Rosa is a famous tourist destination thanks to its numerous beach establishments and hotels that allow for comfortable and relaxing accommodation. The main tourism is family type, mainly due to the tranquility of the country, but its proximity to youthful beaches such as Alba Adriatica and San Benedetto make it an excellent meeting point between the nightlife and privacy, making it suitable also for a young tourism that can easily reach the main points of leisure in a few minutes.
Art
Villa Rosa and Martinsicuro have a well-established history that has left them traces of the past through some major monuments.
CASTELLACCIO
On all stands the ancient palace of the Franks, once owners of the territories of Villa Rosa, which rises from the hills observing the whole country. The castellaccio has over time become the symbol of the town and of the Pro Loco association itself, an unmistakable symbol that transmits strength and security. The castle, in full nineteenth-century style, is today, unfortunately, in a state of neglect.
CARLO V'S TOWER
A symbol of the ancient city of TRUENTUM, the Latin ancestor of Martinsicuro, it now houses a museum that can be visited with some finds from the ancient Roman city. The Torre Carlo V is generally identified with the name of 'TORRIONE'.
TRUENTUM'S RESTS
Unfortunately, this is a treasure still buried in the earth. Remains of houses and squares of the ancient city of Truentum extend under the Martinsicuro territory. In spite of the fact that in the 1990s archaeological excavations were started in an attempt to bring to light this immense treasure still lying beneath the earth, hoping one day to return to see the sunlight.
Landscapes
Although Villa Rosa is a maritime municipality, its proximity to the hill makes its landscape changeable and alive in every season. The sand of the beaches that overlook the white and thin Adriatic is the main tourist attraction of the summer along with relaxation. The vineyards that are painted in warm colors during the autumn are a unique spectacle that turns the hill-tops of the hills purple, radically changing their appearance. The winter climate, the lit fireplaces and, on some occasions, the snow on the sea characterize the coldest months of the year.
Typical Dishes
The culinary tradition of Villa Rosa and Martinsicuro reflects, of course, the cuisine of Abruzzo with typical dishes of the Teramano hinterland of smells and strong stamps along with a more delicate cuisine linked to the maritime tradition of our country. The prince of local specialties is extra virgin olive oil, ideal for lightness and refined for aromas of rare intensity. The neo-denomination 'DOCG' closes the enogastronomic route, the flagship of our province, in which Villa Rosa enters by right thanks to the extensive viticulture of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo developed on the gentle hills near the sea. Not a single dish that characterizes us, but a varied world of flavors and fragrances that will not leave disappointed those who will have the pleasure of spending time in our territory.
